Bio
Hailing from Tucson, Arizona, Zach Weidenbach is a singer-songwriter who discovered his love for music at the age of 12. It all began when he stumbled upon the bluegrass classic “Sally Goodin.” In the following 4 years, he studied under Joe Bethancourt, a seasoned Appalachian and Bluegrass artist located Phoenix, Arizona. As his musical interests began to grow, so did his repertoire of instruments. He learned acoustic guitar while studying under Rob Robbins, the lead guitarist of the band Vayden and former student of Paul Gilbert. Under Robbins direction, Zach gained a foundational understanding of music theory that would later serve him in his compositional skills. He later went on to play piano and cello under his own direction.
After 2 years under Robbins’ instruction, Zach went on to study music by himself. He frequented open mics in the greater Phoenix-Metro area. He also played regularly at the restaurant The Bad Donkey as well as a fundraising auction for the college preparatory school Foothills Academy.
His influences include bluegrass artists such as Earl Scruggs and Bela Fleck. However, his other influences include The Dave Matthews Band, Sufjan Stevens, Led Zeppelin, and Marilyn Manson. The eclectic musical milieus of bluegrass, indie, alternative, and classical culminate into a unique sound that has come to define Zach’s music. His presence on the website Youtube has garnered critical praise for interesting and original interpretations of popular artists’ songs.
